To celebrate the art of Martin Puryear, Sounds Modern presents music of another iconoclastic American “minimalist.” Terry Riley’s work In C, like Puryear’s work, broke new ground by exploring the innate textures of simple materials. On Saturday, April 26 at 2 pm, this 1964 work will be performed by flutist Elizabeth McNutt, violinist Andrew May, pianist Steven Harlos, and percussionist Christopher Deane, and members of UNT’s Nova Ensemble in the Modern’s auditorium.. Admission is free and open to the public (museum admission is separate).
